Safety and Accident Prevention
At Student Edge safety is a massive deal. With all of our systems in place we believe we are the safety leader in the painting industry. Extensive research, money and time has been spent to improve our safety systems. We recognize that our industry is constantly changing and therefore to keep up with these changes we are continually working with safety consultants from Washington State Labor and Industries, Oregon CCB, OSHA in both Oregon and Washington and finally the EPA. Just this past year we have hired Amber Colgrove as our full time Safety & Lead Consultant. Amber works with the Branch Managers on all aspects of safety, proper respirator use and lead safe work practices. Branch Managers are given two days of lead and safety training to ensure that we are following the appropriate guidelines and then some. Painters are then trained by their Branch Managers to follow these practices. As we move towards 2011 we are mandating that all of our student painters complete a first aid training course before they are able to step onto a job site.
Finally we have a very strict disciplinary policy with our Branch Managers and Painters. Unsafe work practices will not be tolerated and may result in worker suspension or termination of our employees.
