The Student Edge Painting Process
The preparation work is our major focus, and it more than anything else accounts for a top quality paint job. Unless prep is handled properly, the final coat of paint will inevitably fail sooner than expected and cost the homeowner more money.
- • Full area wash prior to painting. Depending on the amount of build-up, i.e. flaking paint, dirt, etc., the home will either be power-washed or hosed down.
- • Scrape and power-sand all peeling paint areas.
- • Prime all bare wood.
- • Galvanized metal primer on all bare metal surfaces.
- • TSP (Tri-Sodium Phosphate) on mildew or moss areas.
- • Wire brush flaking and deteriorating stucco.
- • Stucco-patch large areas in stucco or wood filling of any holes in wood siding.
- • Caulk small cracks in stucco.
- • Caulk seams in fascia boards.
