Preparation:
- Thoroughly clean all surface areas prior to painting. We use a combination of pressure washing, hand washing or a simple hose down.
- Tri-Sodium Phosphate (TSP), an environmentally friendly version (phosphate free) available, is incorporated into our wash to clean surfaces to be painted, followed by a thorough rinse. This is designed to remove flaking paint, dirt build-up, chalking, mildew and moss.
- Scrape and/or wirebrush all flaking paint
- Sand edges to smooth ridges created from scraping, afterwards wipe all dust from surface.
- Apply appropriate primer to all bare wood and metal surfaces to offer proper paint adhesion.
- Properly caulk and fill seams, cracks and joints in siding, stucco, trim etc. to prevent moisture infiltration.
- Repair holes in wood or stucco with wood filler or stucco patching.
When prep is handled properly, the protection of the final coat of paint will inevitably be improved and therefore last much longer, saving the homeowner money.
Painting:
Every home is approached strategically. We work in a top to bottom, left to right fashion. The most difficult area of the home is tackled first. The body of the home or business is completed before the trim.
