Q. Can I lose money by participating in this program?
A. No. With Student Edge you are not running a franchise business. You are an employee operating as an outside sales agent working for Student Edge Painting. Therefore, all liability is assumed by the company. Further to this you are guaranteed a minimum based commission on the sales you achieve.
Q. How do I purchase painting equipment?
A. Student Edge will allocate a portion of their line of credit for you to use over the summer. This line of credit is in Student Edge’s name and we assume all liability.
Q. How do I pay my employees?
A. Student Edge provides a payroll service in order to pay the managers as well as their employees. Simply, you would communicate the hours worked by the employees on the job sites to your District Manager. The payroll company will ensure that all appropriate tax remittances are taken care of and that year end W2s are sent out at the end of the year.
Q. Do I need a vehicle?
A. Yes, you will need part-time access to a vehicle by the end of February till you finish your final exams and will need full time access by the start of summer break. Roof racks are also essential at the start of summer.
Q. What happens if one of my workers gets hurt on the job?
A. We are licensed and bonded therefore all employees are insured by Student Edge.
Q. Will I get much time to take vacation time over the summer?
A. This program is fairly demanding and requires a student to be on top of customer service the entire summer. Extended vacations are not permitted though the most organized and motivated students do plan three to four day long weekend vacations towards the end of the summer.
